Alcorta GYM
BUENOS AIRES - 2006

33.600 sq ft. Sports Complex
The project consists in a freestanding box with an independent structure, which covers the entire building and acclimatizes it. The colored glass changes it opacity to control the sunlight and the panels can be handled independently according to the current activities. Between the glass and the structure is a corridor which regulates the natural circulation and renovation of air, minimizing the use of AC and allowing the access for maintenance.
The rest of the building could be totally open to connect with the exterior area and generate multiple activities.
The Gym is located in a large green field next to two main traffic arteries, therefore the “big floating box” serves as a lantern during the night playing with the car lights and showing the active parts of the building at each moment.
