Pier 26 - Hudson River - New York City
The project takes place in the pier 26 at the Hudson river in New York City. The proposal uses the old pier structure to rebuild a new resilient area that serves as a recreation place and as a protection for the city against floods. The general idea is not to stop the water, but to project its flow and create places that could be use either with or without water. Under this concept the city will have water but it would be in planned spaces. Moreover, the water will be clean and will not raze with everything along the streets and carry garbage and diseases. -Based on the sea level rising projection and possible catastrophes the project creates a green slope. -Proposes a building that can be used under the water. The program will be a research center of marine ecology, with an area for schools visits and public tours. -Connection between the existing promenade -generates an open space for recreation in connection with the building and the water -provides a propitious environment for the growing of natural ecosystem
